GMB votes to continue pension talks with government
Senior GMB reps in the civil service have voted to continue talks with the government over ministers’ proposals to reform public sector pensions.

Brian Strutton GMB national secretary for public services said “GMB civil service representatives met today to consider the Heads of Agreement principles for further pension negotiations.

“They agreed to GMB proceeding on that basis with a view to negotiating a final proposal that can be put to members for a final decision by them. This decision will now be reported to the Central Executive Council of GMB”.

The GMB civil service reps is one of a number of union executives which has met, or is about to meet in the coming days to consider its detailed response to the government’s draft proposals which were signed on 19th December.

A meeting of all unions involved in the mass strike on 30th November is due to be held at the TUC on Thursday next week, at which officials will consider further steps in the pensions dispute.
