Letter to David Cameron
On Tuesday 13 March, a delegation including Caroline Lucas MP, Jeremy Corbyn MP, Ahmad Shah Noorzoe from Afghans for Peace, Kate Hudson, General Secretary of CND and Chris Nineham from Stop the War Coalition, delivered a letter to David Cameron at Downing Street to protest at the mass killing of Afghan civilians by a US soldier on 11 March 2012 and calling on the Prime Minister to bring British troops back from Afghanistan immediately.

Dear Prime Minister,
The killing on Sunday of sixteen civilians by an unnamed US soldier was an appalling atrocity in itself. It is also a symbol of the catastrophe that has been created by the occupation of Afghanistan.

The country has been devastated, tens of thousands of innocents have been killed and violence has spread through the country. The behaviour of foreign troops has created deep resentment and bitterness against NATO forces.

It is clear to almost all now that the occupation has failed. There is no chance of peace and progress in Afghanistan until the foreign forces withdraw.

Any delay will deepen the crisis in the country and lead to the completely avoidable death of more Afghan civilians and British and other foreign troops.

We urge you to listen to the voice of the majority and order the withdrawal of all British troops now.
