| Stand up to Racism – National Demonstration – Saturday 19th March 2016 There will be a national demonstration to mark United Nations Anti-Racism Day on Saturday 19th March 2016. The demonstration’s slogan this year is Refugees Welcome - Stand up to racism, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism and fascism. The continuing refugee crisis across Europe demonstrates the desperation felt by the many thousands of people fleeing the horror of war; jeopardising their lives and those of their families to get to a place of safe sanctuary. The debate taking place about our future in the EU will also inevitably lead to the refugee situation being used in a divisive way and the trade union movement has a vital role to play in ensuring that we stand together against fascism - and fight against all attempts to use this crisis as a vehicle to advance racism, Islamophobia and anti-Semitism across the continent. |
