In the time Jeremy Hunt has been in charge of the NHS he has managed to visit 2 hospitals. Since he clearly isn’t used to visiting the poor and vulnerable we felt we should go and search for him in his natural habitat of Farnham in Surrey. Somewhat ironically and despite his promises to the contrary at the last election, having the health Secretary as your MP doesn’t make you immune to privatisation. At least not when he’s from the ‘Millionaire cabinet’. The local Haslemere Hospital has been run by Virgin Healthcare and local residents are finding this to be a problem. Consequently alongside searching for the Health Secretary we are planning to leaflet the town centre of Farnham and go door to door getting local residents to sign a petition opposing the health cuts and privatisation being pushed by their MP. We are then planning to use this petition to publicise the fact that even the Health Secretary’s own constituents don’t like the ConDems policies on the NHS. Local and National media have been notified in order to maximise publicity. Details: Unite we have laid on 4 coaches departing from 3 parts of London.
