SAVE OUR NHS As the Health and Social Care Bill goes to its third reading… FIGHT TO DEFEND THE NHS DEMONSTRATE Weds 7th September : Assemble 6.30pm at St Thomas’ Hospital Westminster Bridge Rd, SE1 7EH Protest supported by: Unite the Union, London Health Worker Network, Right to Work Campaign and Keep Our NHS Public. March across the bridge to Parliament. Health workers – please wear your uniform Unison and TUC Vigil at Parliament at 9.30pm Changes to the Health and Social Care Bill have done nothing to address the most damaging aspects of government health plans that will break up the NHS and put profits ahead of patients. Unison, the largest health sector union, and the TUC have called a candle-lit vigil outside parliament at 9.30pm on 7th September, as the bill goes through. They have also called upon activists to organise protests and vigils outside hospitals across the country. Unite the Union, London Health Worker Network, Right to Work Campaign and Keep Our NHS Public are organising the protest at St Thomas’ at 6pm in response to this call, and are supporting the candle-lit vigil at parliament that evening. * The Tories’ plans threaten to break up our health service and hand it to private sector companies. * 50,000 NHS jobs are being cut and front-line services are under threat. * A huge public outcry has forced Cameron and Clegg to delay the Health and Social Care Bill. * We need to pile on the pressure to make sure the Bill is scrapped and to stop our NHS from being destroyed. *It is the third reading of the Bill on 7 September which proposes to destroy the NHS as we know it.
