France. Public and Private Education Unions on Strike
27 de septiembre de 2011, 09:28Paris, Sep 27 (Prensa Latina) French labour unions from public and private education went to general strike all over the country on Tuesday to protest job cuts in education.

At the same time, Labor ministers of G20 countries are holding a two days meeting in Paris to discuss social protection mechanisms and the right to employment.

Further 16,000 job posts are planned to be cut by the 2011-2012 academic year as one of two pensioners were not replaced.

A total of 50,000 posts have been cut since 2007 and a further 14,000 are planned to go in 2012.

Union labors wonder how the French government will guarantee the education quality with fewer teachers and more students.

SNES-FSU National Trade Union for Secondary Education explained that High schools and pre-university schools are taking in 79,536 new students this year, as 4,800 teachers will be fired.
