Fight for rights of migrant domestic workers

We are expecting an announcement any day confirming whether Home Secretary Theresa May will reform or remove the special visa for domestic workers coming to the UK.

But the domestic worker visa gives vital protection to these vulnerable workers in the UK. It has been successful in protecting many workers from abuse by employers, by giving them the right to change employers, and enabling them to access employment rights.

Scrapping this visa would not end the demand for domestic workers in the UK. Instead they would be returned to a state of vulnerability and even domestic slavery because they would effectively have no rights here. There is still time to oppose this change!
