After decades of death and destruction caused by unnecessary British military interventions, we now have the opportunity to elect a Prime Minister who will take real measures to transform British foreign policy to one that is based on social justice, peace and human rights. Stop the War has played a huge role in changing the narrative of ‘Bomb first, talk later’ and this is reflected in the Labour Party’s new manifesto that promises a sharp change in foreign policy. Jeremy Corbyn has pledged to stop arms sales to Saudi Arabia and Israel, introduce a war powers act, implement the recommendations of the Chilcot enquiry and reform international rules to defend the human rights of civilians in war zones including Syria, Yemen, Gaza and Myanmar. These are all welcome. However, the manifesto does pledge to renew Trident, maintain our commitment to NATO and spend at least 2% of GDP on defence. So there is still the need for an anti-war movement which puts forward the alternative arguments. This is an exciting time for us, but we still have a very long way to go. We urgently need your financial help to continue our crucial campaigning work during the election period and to strengthen the movement against wars and against NATO. JOIN US NOW Your support will help us build a stronger anti-war movement and help us elect an anti-war government. https://stopwar.us18.list-manage.com/track/click?u=be99f02e1d01f6ff33e77f201&id=edb6f07bf2&e=5d72d5d5db |
